Shell-ebrate the New Year by Volunteering with Wishtoyo!
When? Monday, January 6th from 10:30am-12:30pm (please arrive on time and make plans to stay for the whole volunteer event)
Where? The Wishtoyo Chumash Foundation Conservancy in Santa Paula, CA (exact location and driving directions provided upon sign up)
What? With water, dish soap, and brushes, we will clean and scrub abalone shells. If there is time, we may also sort them by size. As a cultural keystone species, the shells of these abalone will go on to play an important role in Wishtoyo's education programming and in the material culture of our wider community.
How?
Step 1: if you haven’t already, make a volunteer profile and confirm your commitment to our volunteer agreements HERE Step 2: Sign up for the event itself HERE! There are limited spaces available for this volunteer event, so the sooner you sign up, the better!
